From 05 to 09 October 2026, crude oil prices showed mixed trends. Brent prices rose by US$ 0.72 per barrel, while WTI prices fell by US$ 2.18 per barrel. The Weekly Average Weighted Prime Lending Rate (AWPR) increased by 12 basis points to 11.16%. Broad money (M2b) grew by 11.5% year-on-year in August 2026. Net credit to the government decreased by Rs. 83.2 billion, while outstanding credit to the private sector increased by Rs. 105.7 billion, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 24.5%. The Average Weighted Call Money Rate (AWCMR) remained steady at 8.99% as of 09 October 2026.
The All-Share Price Index (ASPI) decreased by 2.38% to 20,316.91 points, and the S&P SL 20 Index fell by 1.61% to 5,788.75 points. Treasury Bill yields remained stable, with an oversubscription rate of approximately 2.1 times in the latest auction. The rupee depreciated by 6.3% against the US dollar year-to-date as of 09 October 2026. Workers’ remittances were recorded at US$ 734.4 million in September 2026, down from US$ 748.6 million in August 2026. Gross official reserves were provisionally estimated at US$ 6,851 million at the end of September 2026.
