Privacy Policy
How we handle your data and protect your privacy.
Overview
At CALCLK, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website and calculators.
Key Point: Our calculators work entirely in your browser. We do not store your calculation inputs or results on our servers.
Some features do transmit limited data to third parties (for example, analytics events, exchange-rate fetches, and contact submissions). Where this occurs, the data transmitted is described below.
For how the Vehicle Import Tax Calculator works (including scope and limitations), see Methodology and Regulatory Basis.
What Data We Collect
Calculator Data
All calculations are performed locally in your browser. The numbers you enter into our calculators (vehicle prices, income amounts, loan details, etc.) are never sent to our servers and are not stored anywhere except temporarily in your browser's memory.
Network requests (non-input data)
The Platform may make network requests from your browser to third-party services (for example, to fetch exchange rates or load embedded resources). These requests may necessarily include metadata such as your IP address and user-agent as part of normal internet communication. Calculation input values are not intentionally transmitted as part of standard calculator use.
Contact data (when you submit it)
If you voluntarily submit your email, phone number, name, or message (for example, to request a report, share feedback, or request contact), we will transmit the information you submit to our backend service providers for processing.
Analytics Data
We use privacy-focused analytics to understand how our website is used. This may include:
- Pages visited
- Time spent on pages
- Device type and browser
- Country/region (not precise location)
We do not track individual users or collect personally identifiable information through analytics.
Telemetry fields (where applicable)
Depending on the feature you use, event and submission payloads may include fields such as:
- Anonymous session identifier
- Tool/page identifier (e.g., tool slug, page path)
- Source page URL
- Device/browser context (e.g., screen size, platform)
- Language
- UTM parameters (if present in the URL)
Local Storage
We may use your browser's local storage to save your preferences (such as theme selection and currency preferences). This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.
Browser storage details
The Platform may use your browser storage for:
- Calculator session state (sessionStorage) to restore your work after refresh
- User preferences (localStorage) such as exchange rate settings and display preferences
- Cached exchange rates (localStorage) to reduce repeated network calls
- Anonymous session ID (localStorage) for basic analytics correlation
The Platform may also include shareable URL parameters for some calculator fields. If you share a URL, anyone with that URL may be able to see the values embedded in the URL.
Google Sign-In and Google User Data
If you choose to sign in with Google ("Continue with Google"), we use Google OAuth 2.0 through our authentication provider, Supabase. With your consent, Google shares the following basic profile information with us:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your profile picture
- A Google account identifier (subject ID)
We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Contacts, or any other Google service data — only the basic profile fields listed above.
How we use Google user data
Google user data is used solely to create and secure your CALCLK account, authenticate your sessions, and display your name and avatar on your profile. It is also used to send transactional account emails (such as sign-in confirmations and password-reset messages). We do not use Google user data for advertising, profiling, credit-worthiness or lending decisions, sale to data brokers or information resellers, or to develop, improve, or train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
How we store and protect Google user data
These fields are stored as part of your account record in Supabase (our authentication and database provider). Security procedures are in place to protect the confidentiality of your data: all traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS/HTTPS, data is encrypted at rest, and access to account records is restricted to the services required to operate the Platform. Google user data is retained only while your account is active and is deleted when you delete your account.
Sharing of Google user data
We do not sell, rent, transfer, or disclose Google user data to third parties for their own purposes, including targeted, personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising. It is processed only by the service providers required to operate the Platform — Supabase (authentication) and Resend (account emails) — and only for the purposes described above.
Revoking access
You can revoke CALCLK's access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions page. You can also delete your CALCLK account and the associated data from Settings or by contacting us via Help.
CALCLK's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How We Use Data
The limited data we collect is used to:
- Improve our calculators and user experience
- Understand which tools are most useful
- Fix bugs and technical issues
- Plan new features based on usage patterns
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Payment data (Pro tier subscribers)
If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by our payment partner, PayHere. We receive a limited subset of payment metadata from PayHere (subscription status and expiry date) to enable Pro features. We do not store your full card number, CVV, or other sensitive payment credentials — these are handled entirely by PayHere in accordance with PCI-DSS requirements.
Data stored: subscription status, subscription ID, expiry date. Retained for subscription duration plus 1 year for accounting purposes.
Advertising data (Google AdSense)
We may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
Data collected by Google: advertising identifiers, cookie IDs, approximate geolocation. Governed by Google's privacy policy. We do not control this data.
Affiliate link tracking
Some links on our calculators and guides may be affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link, we may append UTM parameters to track which calculator referred the click. This tracking is limited to: source calculator, timestamp, and anonymous session ID. We do not link affiliate clicks to your personal identity unless you are logged in.
Email and contact submissions
If you submit your email or other contact details, we use that information to respond to your request (for example, sending a report, responding to a support message, or processing feedback).
We do not require you to submit personal information to use the calculators.
Email Communications & Newsletter
When you subscribe to our newsletter or tax updates, we collect your email address and store it in our database. We use a double opt-in process: you will receive a confirmation email and must click the confirmation link before your subscription is activated.
We send the following types of email communications:
- Welcome email — sent once after you confirm your subscription
- Weekly digest — a summary of financial news and tax updates, sent every Monday
- Onboarding sequence — 5 educational emails over 30 days introducing our calculators
- Re-engagement emails — sent if you have not opened our emails in 30+ days
- Transactional emails — report delivery, account notifications, support responses
You can manage your email preferences at any time by visiting ourEmail Preferences pageor by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email. Unsubscribing will stop all non-transactional emails.
We track email engagement (opens, clicks, bounces) to improve our content and maintain deliverability. Bounced or complained email addresses are automatically suppressed to protect our sender reputation.
Data stored: email address, subscription type, subscription status, engagement metrics (open count, click count), signup source. Retained until you unsubscribe, plus 30 days for suppression list purposes.
Cookies
We use minimal cookies necessary for the website to function properly. These may include:
- Theme preference (light/dark mode)
- Currency selection
- Analytics cookies (anonymized)
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect some functionality.
See also: Cookie Policy.

We may use the following third-party services:
- Analytics: PostHog (web analytics)
- Authentication & backend: Supabase (authentication, database, edge functions), including Google OAuth 2.0 for optional Google sign-in
- Payments: PayHere (subscription payment processing)
- Email delivery: Resend (transactional and newsletter email sending)
- Advertising: Google AdSense (ad serving)
- Exchange rates: ExchangeRate-API and other public endpoints used as fallbacks by specific tools
- Site operations: Optimize Manager (managed hosting, security and uptime monitoring)
Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing their data practices.
Retention and deletion
Calculation inputs and results are not stored on our servers as part of normal calculator use.
If you submit contact details (for example, email submissions), retention depends on operational needs (for example, responding to requests, fraud prevention, and system integrity).
To request deletion of submitted contact data, use the support contact channel listed on Help.
