  • What is the net gold weight after stones?
  • What are the metal rate, wastage, and labour charge separately?
  • Are tax and stones included, and what buy-back deduction would apply?

Questions

What weight should I enter?

The net gold weight — the piece minus stones, beads and other non-gold parts. Ask the jeweller for the gold-only weight; if they only quote gross weight, subtract the stone weight first.

Where does the reference rate come from?

CalcLK auto-fills an indicative rate (XAU/USD spot × USD/LKR) normalized to your karat. Replace it with the rate the shop is actually quoting — the comparison then shows the shop rate’s premium separately.

Is the remaining gap the shop’s profit?

No. The gap is unitemized — it may include costs the inputs did not model (overheads, design, stones’ labour, real margins). Only a written cost breakdown from the shop itemizes it.

What is a fair making or wastage charge?

There is no verified Sri Lankan standard — the 1/3/5% wastage buttons are scenarios, not benchmarks. Compare the same item across two or three jewellers.
