Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of the Platform and its calculators, tools, and educational content.
Last updated: 2025-06-25
1. About us and how to contact us
1.1 The website, mobile site and related tools accessible at calclk.com and any associated sub-domains (together, the "Platform") are operated by calcLK ("we", "us", "our").
1.3 You can contact us at:
We do not provide telephone-based or in-person advisory services through this Platform.
2. Legal nature of this Platform (educational only)
2.1 Educational information only – not financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
- All calculators, simulations, examples, articles, videos and other content on the Platform ("Content") are provided solely for general educational and informational purposes.
- Nothing on the Platform is intended to recommend, encourage, or solicit you to buy, sell or hold any specific security, unit trust, fund, insurance policy or other financial product, or to assess the suitability of any financial product for you.
2.2 Not an investment advisor or regulated intermediary.
We are not licensed as a market intermediary or investment advisor under the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka Act, No. 19 of 2021 ("SEC Act"), and we do not carry on "investment advice" or other regulated activities as defined in that Act. We are not a licensed bank, finance company, insurer, insurance intermediary, or payment-service provider under the laws of Sri Lanka.
2.3 No personalised recommendations.
The Platform does not provide personalised recommendations based on your profile. Any scenarios, projections or comparisons generated by the calculators are based solely on the numerical inputs you provide and on publicly available reference data (for example, Inland Revenue Department tax tables, CBSL reference rates, or illustrative assumptions disclosed in the relevant tool). Results are presented as scenarios and not as advice or as a recommendation that you should take, or refrain from taking, any particular action.
2.4 You must obtain professional advice.
You remain responsible for seeking advice from appropriately licensed professionals (for example, a tax advisor, chartered accountant, investment advisor or lawyer) before making any financial decision. You should not rely on the Platform as a substitute for such advice.
3. Acceptance of these Terms
3.1 By accessing or using any part of the Platform, creating an account, or using any calculator or Content, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
3.2 If you use the Platform on behalf of a company or other legal person, you represent that you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf. In that case, "you" and "your" also refer to that legal person.
3.3 We may publish translations of these Terms in Sinhala or Tamil for convenience. In the event of any inconsistency between language versions, the English version will prevail to the extent permitted by law.
4. Eligibility and territory
4.1 The Platform is primarily designed for users located in Sri Lanka and for use with Sri Lankan tax rules, financial products and regulatory frameworks.
4.2 You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or submit any personal data beyond what is strictly necessary to use a calculator. If you are under 18, you may only use the Platform through a parent or legal guardian.
4.3 If you access the Platform from outside Sri Lanka, you are responsible for ensuring that such access and use comply with the laws of the country or territory where you are located.
5. Description of services
5.1 The Platform may provide, among other things:
- Tax and statutory calculators (for example, income-tax calculators, EPF/ETF projections, vehicle import-duty estimators).
- Savings and investment-related calculators (for example, fixed deposit, retirement or goal-planning tools, and non-advisory unit-trust comparison views).
- Loan and debt-management calculators (for example, EMI, amortisation schedules, debt snowball/avalanche illustrations).
- Currency conversion or exchange-rate viewers (where provided).
- Educational articles, guides, FAQs, and other Content about budgeting, saving, borrowing, investing and using financial services in Sri Lanka.
- Basic dashboards or views that allow you to manually record and visualise your own financial data.
5.2 As at the Effective Date, the Platform does not connect directly to your bank account or other financial-institution account. Any financial figures you see are based on your manual inputs and/or on publicly available data referenced in the relevant calculator description.
5.3 We may update, expand or remove calculators, features or Content from time to time. Material changes that significantly affect how we process your personal data will be described in the Privacy Policy and, where required, notified to you.
6. Accuracy of calculators and Content
6.1 We make reasonable efforts to design calculators and Content using up-to-date public information (for example, Inland Revenue Department guidance, CBSL publications, official fee schedules or tariff notices) as at the time indicated in each tool.
6.2 However, we cannot guarantee accuracy or completeness. Laws, regulations, tax rates, exchange rates, contribution percentages, and product terms change over time and may not be reflected immediately on the Platform. Certain tools use simplifying assumptions that may not match your actual circumstances or official calculations, and official calculators or product terms may produce different results.
6.3 You are responsible for verifying results with the relevant authority or institution before relying on them. We are not responsible for any losses or liabilities you may incur if you rely solely on calculator outputs or Content without obtaining independent verification or advice, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
7. Prohibited conduct
7.1 You must not use the Platform:
- in any manner that would cause us to be treated as providing "investment advice" or other regulated services under the SEC Act, Banking Act or other applicable laws;
- to disseminate, upload or share specific stock tips, investment recommendations, pyramid or Ponzi schemes, or any other unlawful solicitation;
- to attempt to reverse-engineer, copy or resell the calculators or Content as a competing service, except as permitted by applicable open-source licences (if any are expressly identified);
- to introduce malware, attempt to gain unauthorised access, or interfere with the normal functioning or security of the Platform;
- to misrepresent your identity or affiliation, or to impersonate any person or entity;
- in any way that infringes the rights (including intellectual-property, privacy or data-protection rights) of any other person; or
- for any unlawful purpose or in a manner that violates any applicable law or regulation.
7.2 We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe that you have breached this section.
8. Registration, accounts and security
8.1 Some parts of the Platform may be accessible without registration, while other features may require you to create an account.
8.2 You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us promptly if you suspect any unauthorised access or use of your account.
8.3 You must not share your account with any other person or reuse passwords that you have used for other services.
9. Data protection and privacy
9.1 Our Privacy Policy explains in detail how we collect, use, store, share and protect personal data when you use the Platform. It is an integral part of these Terms.
9.2 The Platform is designed to align with the principles of the Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022 (PDPA), including lawfulness, fairness and transparency; purpose limitation and data minimisation; accuracy and storage limitation; integrity, confidentiality and security; and respect for data-subject rights, subject to exceptions in the PDPA and other applicable law.
9.3 Where we provide tools or services to users located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom or other jurisdictions with extra-territorial data-protection laws, we will also seek to align our practices with those frameworks (for example, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation and the California Consumer Privacy Act / CPRA), as further described in the Privacy Policy.
9.4 In the event of any conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy in relation to personal-data processing, the Privacy Policy will prevail.
10. Intellectual property
10.1 Unless otherwise stated, we (or our licensors) own all intellectual-property rights in the Platform and the Content, including but not limited to code, design, calculators, text, graphics, logos, icons and compilations of data.
10.2 We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Platform and Content for your own personal, non-commercial use, strictly in accordance with these Terms.
10.3 You must not, without our prior written consent, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works from the Platform or Content beyond what is permitted under applicable law, or use any automated scraping or data-extraction techniques to access the Platform, except as expressly authorised by a robots.txt file or an API agreement.
10.4 Where we publish any calculator logic, documentation or front-end code under an open-source licence, your use of that component is also governed by the specific licence terms identified in the relevant repository or notice.
11. Third-party content, links and tools
11.1 The Platform may contain links to, or integrations with, third-party websites, APIs, documents or services (for example, CBSL publications, Inland Revenue Department guidance, bank tariff sheets, or educational resources).
11.2 Such links are provided for convenience and information only. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, security or privacy practices of third-party sites or services.
11.3 Where we display reference data (for example, interest-rate tables or tax bands) sourced from third parties, that data is provided as is and may be subject to separate terms or disclaimers issued by the relevant third party.
12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
12.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Platform and all Content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without any warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, or that the Platform will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
12.2 You acknowledge that calculators and Content are intended for general education and planning support; you must verify all outputs and assumptions before acting; and you are solely responsible for any decisions or actions you take based on your use of the Platform.
12.3 To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, consequential, special, punitive or exemplary loss or damage, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Platform or Content, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such losses.
12.4 To the extent we are found liable to you in connection with the Platform despite the above, our aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the Platform and these Terms will be limited to the higher of (a) LKR 50,000 and (b) the total amount (if any) you have paid to us for use of the Platform in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, except where a higher limit is required by non-excludable law. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
13. Regulatory compliance and cooperation
13.1 We reserve the right to monitor use of the Platform for compliance with these Terms and with applicable law; to cooperate with regulators and law-enforcement authorities (including the SEC, CBSL, Inland Revenue Department and the Data Protection Authority) where we are legally required or reasonably consider it necessary to do so; and to suspend or restrict access to any calculator or Content where we reasonably believe that continued availability may create regulatory or consumer-protection risk.
13.2 We may, at our discretion, geo-restrict or otherwise limit access to certain tools or Content in order to comply with law or regulatory guidance.
14. Changes to these Terms and to the Platform
14.1 We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in law or regulatory guidance, new or modified features, calculators or services, or operational, security or business needs.
14.2 When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of these Terms, and, where appropriate, provide a notice on the Platform or by email if you have an account, and where required by law, seek your consent or give you advance notice before the changes take effect.
14.3 If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Platform.
15. Suspension and termination
15.1 We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform (in whole or in part) if you materially breach these Terms, we reasonably suspect fraudulent, abusive or unlawful activity, or we are required to do so by law, a court, or a competent authority.
15.2 On termination, the licence granted to you under these Terms will cease, and you must stop using the Platform. Sections that by their nature should continue after termination (including sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law) will continue to apply.
16. Pro tier subscription
16.1 The Platform may offer a paid subscription plan ("Pro tier") that provides access to enhanced features, such as advanced calculators, ad-free browsing, saved calculations, or priority support.
16.2 Pro tier subscriptions are processed through our payment partner, PayHere. Payment terms, billing cycles, and pricing are displayed on the subscription page at the time of purchase. We do not store your full payment card details — these are handled by PayHere.
16.3 Your Pro tier subscription will remain active until the expiry date indicated in your account, unless terminated earlier in accordance with these Terms.
16.4 You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are provided for unused portions of a billing period, except where required by applicable law.
16.5 We reserve the right to modify Pro tier features, pricing, or availability with reasonable notice. Material changes to pricing will not affect active subscriptions until the next renewal date.
16.6 Pro tier features are provided on the same "as is" basis as the rest of the Platform, subject to the disclaimers and limitation of liability in Section 12.
17. Governing law and dispute resolution
17.1 These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or with the Platform, are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
17.2 Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have, the courts of Sri Lanka will have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute or claim.
18. General
18.1 If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
18.2 Our failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
18.3 You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign or transfer our rights and obligations to another entity as part of a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of assets.
18.4 These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and any specific disclaimers or tool-level notices presented on the Platform, constitute the entire agreement between you and us in relation to your use of the Platform.
